My Top 5 Feng Shui Tips

You've probably heard of Feng Shui in some shape or form. Maybe you've read about the benefits of moving furniture to certain locations in a room. Or perhaps you've researched Feng Shui tips on how to manifest a loving relationship. You may have even experimented with placing certain items in your space to invite more money into your life.

Feng Shui has become a popular topic in the West, and with good reason!

But what exactly is Feng Shui?

"Pronounced 'fung shway,' feng shui literally means "wind and water." Its roots are 5,000 years old. Feng shui seeks to promote prosperity, good health, and general well being by examining how energy, qi, or Chi, flows through a particular room, house, building, or garden." {source}

I think this is a pretty good definition. But Feng Shui goes even deeper than this. It helps you tap into the power of intention and not only supports a harmonized living environment; it helps you to find a state of balance and effortlessly create the life of your dreams. Pretty amazing right?

Being a Feng Shui Consultant has given me the opportunity to share my knowledge with so many wonderful people. I have been invited into homes and businesses to assess the energy and offer my recommendations to help support the unfoldment of the owner's deepest desires.

When I taught in-person workshops on Crystal Healing and Space Clearing, the topic of Feng Shui inevitably came up! My participants would often have questions about what they could do to better support the flow of energy in their homes. While each home has its own unique characteristics, there are some things you can do that will help create a more energetically supportive space, and assist you in finding balance and clarity in all that you do.

Here are my Top 5 Feng Shui Tips:

1) Create a welcoming entrance to your home.

Your front door is considered to be the 'mouth of Chi' in Feng Shui; meaning it is the place where the energy flows in. Creating a warm and welcoming front entrance will naturally invite more good energy inside. Make sure that there is a clear path for energy to flow from the street up to your front door. That means no garbage and recycling bins (if you can help it!), garden tools, or any clutter at the front door! Red is an especially powerful colour in Feng Shui - adding a red front door, a red welcome mat, or red flowers draws more good Chi to your home.

2) Make your bedroom a relaxing and calm oasis.

Your bedroom is the place that is most connected to your personal energy, so you want it to be clean and as clutter free as possible. Make sure there is nothing underneath your bed, so you can encourage a restful night's sleep. TV's, cell phones, laptops, tablets - while all of these things are wonderful ways to connect to the outside world, your bedroom is not the place for them! Make your space as tranquil as you can. Your bedroom is a place for rest, relaxation and intimacy with your partner (if you have one). Pink, white and red colours are wonderful for the bedroom; they encourage love and romance. If you are looking for a partner, placing items in twos (matching nightstands, lamps and pillows) will help create space for the right partner to flow into your life with ease.

3) Open the windows.

This is a pretty simple suggestion, but it works wonders! Opening up your windows invites fresh, healthy Chi into your home and gives you an immediate energy boost. In the spring and summer I always have my windows wide open to welcome in the fresh new energy. Even in the winter, if it's not too cold, I'll crack open a window or two!

4) Clear your clutter.

Chances are, you have at least one area in your home that has accumulated some clutter! Whether it is a room, your desk, or a drawer, clutter can inhibit the flow of energy in your space. It's a natural thing for clutter to pile up, so don't be hard on yourself. Just do your best to clean a bit as you go. Often times when you dedicate even a half hour to clearing some clutter, the energy frees up so substantially that you feel inspired to keep going!

5) Turn up the music and let the sunshine in.

Uplifting music has a wonderful high vibration and so does the sun! Put on some of your favourite tunes, open up your blinds and let the light in. When your space is airy and bright, you feel happy and light in your heart! And that is the best Feng Shui of all.
